The Volume 74 board of the Louisiana Law Review honored Dr. A.N. Yiannopoulos at the Faculty Club on April 22, 2014. The event, hosted by Jerry Dodson and Victor Marcello, commemorated the recent publication of Dr. Yiannopoulos’s address on the occasion of the bicentenary of the Louisiana Supreme Court in Vol. 74, Issue 3 of the Louisiana Law Review.
The luncheon, which was a surprise to Dr. Yiannopoulos, was arranged by Professor Paul Baier, who served as Master of Ceremonies (or, in his own words, as “bugle boy” for the celebration). In attendance were many members of the Vol. 74 board of editors for the Louisiana Law Review: Brooksie Bonvillain, Ashley Gable, Elizabeth Cuttner, Emmy Gill, McClain Schonekas, Laura Leggette, Amelia Hurt, and Katherine Dampf. During lunch, Editor-in-Chief Emmy Gill presented Dr. Yiannopoulos, Mr. Dodson, and Mr. Marcello with print copies of the Bicentenary Address, signed by the board members in attendance. Elizabeth Cuttner, Online Editor, also presented Dr. Yiannopoulos, Mr. Dodson, and Mr. Marcello with signed copies of Dr. Yiannopoulos’s address given at the Vol. 74 banquet, held March 21, 2014. Dr. Yiannopoulos’s remarks from the banquet, titled “Of Law Reviews, the Printing Epidemic, and Elusive Scholarship—A Theme with Variations,” was published on the Law Review’s blog, the Digital Digest, in honor of the luncheon.
For those in attendance, a highlight of the event was Dr. Yiannopoulos’s candid remarks on the importance of publication, both in school and beyond. Following the luncheon, Dr. Yiannopoulos commented, “A heartfelt ‘thank you’ for your care, sensitivity, and shared enthusiasm for life. That youthful luncheon that [Professor Baier] organized yesterday will be a treasured moment in my long life.”
