Publication Guidelines
The Louisiana Law Review invites the submission of legal articles and essays, commentaries on legislation or cases, and book reviews. All authors should take note of the following items on the Review’s publication policy:

  1. Submitted articles must not have been previously published.
  2. The Board of Editors reserves the right to make such alterations in style and format as it considers necessary.
  3. Textual style and usage should conform to William Strunk and E.B. White, The Elements of Style (3d ed. 1979) and Wilson Follett, Modern American Usage (J. Barzun ed. 1966).
  4. Footnotes should conform to the Louisiana Law Review Streamlined Citation Manual (Word format) and The Bluebook (18th ed. 2005).

Statement Regarding Article Length
Consistent with our continuing efforts to improve the quality of the journal, the Louisiana Law Review prefers articles under 20,000 words, including footnotes. This word limit applies to student and faculty submissions alike. We reserve the right to publish longer manuscripts under exceptional circumstances.

The Louisiana Law Review encourages authors to make submissions electronically. Please email submissions to LawReviewSubmissions@law.lsu.edu in Microsoft Word format.
